My initiative is centred around SDG 12 and is focused on how to change our increasingly consumeristic society: finding new ways to use things. I will be organizing, along with my MUN activism team at my local high school, a clothing swap and a book swap. These two swaps will be on different dates and will encourage students to bring clothing items or novels that they do not need anymore, have grown out of or simply do not like anymore. Students will then be able to exchange these items for other student items that interest them. All of this promotes reusability in our school community and teaches students the importance of limiting our consumeristic habits.
