I am currently working on identifying partners to work with and brainstorming ways to accomplish my project - whether it be an advocacy campaign, raising awareness or working with the city, as I know there are many obstacles in the way of restaurants that want to compost but are not well equipped to do so/ are lacking information on how to achieve this endeavour. I have identified that I would like to center my project in a particular neighbourhood. Last summer, an organization put together a project I am interested in in the Aylmer region, I plan on reaching out to them to ask them some questions and potentially collaborate.

ABOUT

I am interested in creating a project that will reduce the amount of garbage waste in restaurants in Gatineau, Québec. I will partner with restaurants and local organizations to work on some creative ways to enable certain restaurants to start composting. In fact, composting in homes is mandatory in Gatineau and homes that do not compost can be fined. This initiative will help Gatineau participate in Canada's achievement of multiple SDG's such as Sustainable Cities and Communities (11), Responsible Consumption and Production (12), and Climate Action (13), as well as promote circular economy in a Gatineau neighbourhood. The restaurants' compost will be collected by bicycle and will serve to help grow a community garden in Pointe-Gatineau.
