ABOUT

The World Health Organization listed Vaccine Hesitancy as one of the top 10 threats to global health in 2019. Now, as Covid-19 continues to spread across the world, promoting widespread vaccination and immunization is more urgent than before. The fight against vaccine hesitancy starts with community engagement, business partnership and governmental advocacy. 1 - Community Engagement - With widespread information on the internet comes widespread opportunity for disinformation. One of the biggest battlefields in this fight is in combating disinformation and promoting nuanced discussion and critical thinking from members of the local community. Not everyone has a scientific background, and reading and understanding science can be daunting. Immunize NOW will promote scientific literacy and provoke fact-based discussion. 3 - Business Partnerships - No local community initiative is complete without a plan to partner with local businesses. Immunize NOW will partner with both local businesses, and larger corporate organizations to procure resources and promote communal change. 3 - Governmental Advocacy - As community attitudes change, governmental policy should change as well. Part of Immunize NOW's mandate will be to help advocate for policies which promote vaccine education and community awareness. Specifically, Immunize NOW will hope to act as a liaison between political and scientific leaders, and promote science-based policy change. We will also encourage political activism by community members and attempt to meet and educate local community leaders about this topic.
