Today is #InternationalYouthDay . This year’s theme is Youth Engagement for Global Action, which is something I’ve always been very passionate about.•To engage youth in global issues and civic action, I’ve used the @unitednations Sustainable Development Goals. Interweaving the SDGs throughout curricula allows students to become more curious about issues they care about. Together we’ve tackled issues of climate change, gender inequities, and food insecurity...while coming up with innovate and creative solutions we can implement in our own backyard to achieve a specific goal.•I’ve been lucky to also work closely with @unacanada ‘s #GenerationSDG project to help youth continue exploring civic action outside the school setting. This year youth in the National Capital Region spent over 5540 hours implementing community action projects to address the SDGs most important to them.•We need to continue to inspire our youth to address global issues in a responsible and sustainable way. What ways do you empower youth for global action? ...#Youth #SDGs #TeachSDG #GlobalAction #ThinkGlobalActLocal #TeachersOfInstagram #YouthDay #UN #civicaction
