View this post on Instagram Today, UNA-Canada is celebrating #girls in Canada and around the world for International #DayoftheGirl! This year, the United Nations theme “My Voice, Our Equal Future” supports girls as they continue to lead as change-makers but also reminds us of the work that needs to be done to achieve gender equality. UNA-Canada continues to increase female representation in multiple sectors by creating accessible opportunities for girls and supporting them to reach their full potential. Did you know, in 2019, over 2,220 youth across Canada participated in UNA-Canada programmes! From #GenerationSDG #Canada Green Corps #GreenSpaces and #CandaServiceCorps 68.3% of participants identified as female! UNA-Canada programmes such as Generation SDG support youth in achieving all of the @UN SDGs, including SDG #5 Gender Equality! #GenSDG Ambassadors create service initiatives to implement the SDGs into their communities while receiving mentorship, training and a $500 grant. This past week, UNA-Canada held the Global Citizens Forum- International #DayoftheGirl featuring two intersectional and interactive webinars! UNA-Canada will continue to support girls, listen to girls and uplift girls!
